Social Dummy is 5 Years Old!

March 27, 2018

5 years ago today I launched an app called "FakeFrape" on the iOS App Store. It wasn't until 10th May 2014 I completely remade the app from the ground-up and renamed it to "Social Dummy", you can check out my original post here.

Ever since v2.0 it got popular VERY fast, which has kept me developing and improving the app from all the support I was getting. I've added many more fake accounts for people to use and that was when I realised, I was onto something big.

Today Social Dummy has more than 2,600 daily active users, and the numbers keep going up.

Just the other week the app was #196 in the 'Top Free' Productivity category on the App Store, which was just incredible.

But the one thing I did not expect is the actual change in its purpose, it originally was meant for you to fool your friends and family. However it wasn't until couple months ago that I discovered the majority of users use the app to create what is called AU's (Alternate Universe - Fan Fiction basically).

Little did I know that this was HUGELY popular with K-Pop fans. Users create role playing  conversations/posts between Anime or fictional characters. For example the love between Sherlock and John Watson.

I am just so glad Social Dummy is being used to share other people's creativity and imagination into something great, it really means a lot.

I want to take this opportunity to thank every single user who uses and supports the app, you keep me determined to keep developing it further and bring in new technologies beyond I wouldn't of ever dreamed possible I could do. And yes, I do plan on bringing it to Android.

THANK YOU
